Google has just announced major changes to its video platform with the arrival of new payment methods that will add exclusive features to the service. YouTube Red will be renamed YouTube Premium, while the variant focused on music playback will be YouTube Music. We already know the countries where it will be available and the price of each of them.

YouTube Premium: rethinking YouTube Red

At the level of functionalities, they will be practically the same as their predecessor: navigation without ads by the platform downloading videos for offline viewing and background playback. In addition, we will have access to an exclusive catalog of videos, which will include series and films of our own invoice. The example given to us in the ad is Kobra Kai, the sequel to Karate Kid with the original actors that is being a success. In addition, all the YouTube Music services are included in the package, explained below.

YouTube Music: The new rival for Spotify and company?

YouTube Music will bring a renewed mobile application and a web client that will allow access to a huge music database. Considering the number of illicit music platforms whose audio content is YouTube, it makes sense to channel all that potential into a service of one’s own. At the level of features, we will have the same as the variant for videos in terms of the absence of advertising, local download of music and playback in the background. Of course, the price will be lower than YouTube Premium.
