Do you want to remap modifier keys on the iPad while using a Keyboard? With the launch of iPadOS 13.4. Apple expanded its support for keyboards by enabling users to remap some modifier keys so that they serve various other functions.

However, the ability is quite essential if you’re using a third-party Bluetooth keyboard. Because its keyboard layout might be different from Apple’s own Smart Keyboard. But also if you have a Magic Keyboard or Apple external keyboard for iPad Pro. Then these settings can still be essential.

For example, the iPad Pro-Magic Keyboard lacks an Escape key. But you can also remap the function to the modifier key of your choice. Alternatively, Apple’s Magic Keyboard has an absence of a Globe key for accessing other options keyboard layouts and emoji. But also you can remap this function to a modifier key, too.

But before you follow the steps below for remapping keys, remember your keyboard is connected to your iPad.

Step 1:

Head over to the Settings app on your ‌iPad‌.

Step 2:

Choose General -> Keyboard.

Step 3:

Also, choose Hardware Keyboard.

Step 4:

Choose Modifier Keys.

Step 5:

Pick the key that you would like to modify. The choices are Control, Caps LockOption, and Command.

Step 6:

Select the action that you would like to perform while clicking the selected key. The choices are Caps LockControlCommand, Option, EscapeGlobe, and No Action.

Tip: If you want to use the on-screen keyboard to do somethings such as input accented characters or use dictation. Simply click the down arrow key on your Magic Keyboard. Also, touch and hold the downward-facing strip under the right corner of the screen. If you want to again hide the keyboard. Simply click the key located under the right corner of the screen.
