Some popular Xiaomi smartphones will no longer receive updates

This is not surprising since they are already quite old – at the moment one of them is more than four years old. Xiaomi has announced in its official blog that some of its smartphones will no longer receive firmware updates. We are talking only about relatively old gadgets, so the owners of current devices have nothing to worry about.

According to the administrator on the official Xiaomi forum, the Chinese company has stopped supporting the following smartphones:

  • Xiaomi Mi 5
  • Xiaomi Mi 4S
  • Xiaomi Mi 4
  • Xiaomi Mi 4C
  • Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 Pro (Snapdragon) and Redmi Note 3 (MediaTek)

The latest officially available stable release of MIUI for Mi 5 and Redmi Note 3 (Pro) is 10.2 (or beta build number 8.11.22). For Mi 4 series smartphones, the latter is MIUI 10.1 (or test firmware with an index of 8.9.14).

In fairness, it is worth noting that the official forum mentioned the termination of support for the above-described smartphones and the development of the Chinese firmware for them (MIUI China). About the global modification (MIUI Global) does not say anything, but there is hardly any doubt that its development was also abandoned.

To rebuke Xiaomi after the above statement is definitely wrong since it is one of the few Android manufacturers that has supported its low-end devices for a long time (more than two years). For example, Mi 4 was introduced in August 2014, and only now it has ceased to receive updates.
