Smart Annotations in iPhone: Interpreting documents in a digital form can be quite difficult. In many cases, while editing to the page, your markups become stray and you have to move them back. To remove this problem, Apple launch Smart Annotations for Pages in iOS 11.3.

What’s good about Smart Annotations is that your markups stay with your text. Either you can use your Apple Pencil or your finger to mark up documents on your iPhone or iPad.

If you cant try out this feature yet, our guide shows you how to use Smart Annotations in Pages on iOS.

Show Smart Annotations on iOS

To work with your Smart Annotations in Pages, you need to make sure they aren’t hidden.

Step 1:

Firstly, open a document in Pages on your iPhone or iPad.

Step 2:

Click the More button at the top (three-dot icon).

Step 3:

Choose Smart Annotation and select Show Smart Annotations.

Step 4:

Click Done.

Make sure, head back to this area later if you wish to hideedit, or erase (remove) your markups.

Add Annotations

While using the Smart Annotations is just like the Markup tool. You’ve probably used or seem, like for attachments in the Mail app.

Step 1:

Click the More button and choose Smart Annotations.

Step 2:

Then you’ll be entering on the markup screen with tools at the bottom. Also, the tools include highlighter, pen, pencil, marker, and eraser. You can also use the lasso tool to choose different items at once.

Step 3:

Click Done when you finish annotating your document.

If you want to add more annotations or change those you have, click the More button > Smart Annotations > Edit Smart Annotations.

Viewing Smart Annotations on Mac

If you want to open a document in Pages on your Mac that you marked up on your iPhone or iPad, you can see those Smart Annotations.

Click View > Show Smart Annotations from the menu bar or View > Hide Smart Annotations to push them away.

You can also remove a markup on Mac by choosing one and pressing your Delete key. And if you add more text to the page, those annotations will move with the original text, same as on iOS.

Smart Annotations make marking up your Pages documents on iOS easy. You don’t have to worry about abandoned markups as you edit your document.
