Procedure to install TWRP custom recovery on OnePlus 3 smartphone:
1: First download and run this ADB setup file on your computer.
2: Once you run a blue screen will appear.
3: Then press the letter ‘Y’ and hit the enter key.
4: Then it will ask permission for installing ADB system-wide. So again press letter ‘Y’ and hit the enter key.
This will start the installation of ADB and fastboot files.
5: Then it will ask permission for installing device drivers. Again press letter ‘Y’ and hit the enter key.
6: Then the (device driver installation) process will start. Press next and complete the installation process.
7: After the installation gets completed, go to location C:\adb. You’ll see these files in it:
8: Now download and copy the recovery .img file in the adb folder.
9: Now connect your OnePlus 3 smartphone to the computer.
10: In the adb folder, hold the Shift button of your keyboard and then right-click on empty space. From the list, choose the Open command window here option. This will launch the command window as given below:
11: In the command window, type the following commands and hit enter:
When you press enter key, you’ll see a confirmation message saying ‘List of devices attached’ along with random numbers.
Note: If such a thing doesn’t happen then re-install the USB drivers. If the problem still persists then change the USB cable or USB port.
12: Now type the next command and press enter:
adb reboot bootloader
This will restart your OnePlus 3 into bootloader mode as shown below:
13: Now type the fastboot command and press enter:
This command will again confirm the successful connection.
14: Now type the following command to flash the TWRP custom recovery and hit enter key:
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
15: Now disconnect the phone by manually unplugging the USB cable from PC. Then press and hold the Volume down + Power button until your device enters the recovery mode.
16: In TWRP recovery, you’ll see the following screen:
Just tick the ‘Never show this screen’ message and swipe to allow modifications.
17: Now on landing into the main screen of TWRP recovery, select the Reboot option. Then select System option to restart your OnePlus 3 device.
Great! You’ve successfully flashed the TWRP custom recovery on your OnePlus 3 smartphone.
Procedure to Root OnePlus 3 Smartphone:
1: Download the SuperSU.zip file on your computer. Make sure you do not extract it.
2: Now connect your OnePlus 3 to the computer and copy the SuperSU.zip file on your phone’s internal or external storage.
Note: You may directly download the zip file on your phone.
3: Power off your OnePlus 3 and boot into TWRP custom recovery mode. For doing so, press and hold Volume Down key + Power Key until your phone lands into recovery mode.
4: On the main menu of TWRP, click on the Install option. Then navigate to the SuperSU.zip file and select it.
5: Now swipe to start the flashing process.
6: After completion, you’ll see a message saying successful on the screen
7: Now restart your OnePlus 3 by navigating to Reboot>System in TWRP recovery mode itself.
8: That’s all! You’ve successfully rooted your OnePlus 3 smartphone. You can confirm the same from the root checker app.
