Use Command Prompt to copy the files

  • Tap on Windows Key + X and then select Command Prompt (Admin).
  • Then type the following command into cmd and click on Enter:

copy E:\troubleshooter.txt C:\

Note: You can replace E:\troubleshooter.txt with the full address of your source file and C:\ along with the destination.

  • Then after running the above command your files would be automatically copy to the location you want that is the root of C:\ drive here. Then you will not face “A Required Privilege Is Not Held By The Client” Error.

Turn off UAC using Registry Editor

  • Tap on Windows Key + R and then type regedit and hit Enter
  • Now navigate to the following registry subkey:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\system

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\system

Privilege is not Held

  • In the right pane of System key, you have to find EnableLUA DWORD and double tap on it.
  • Just change its value to 0 and tap on OK.
  • Now reboot your PC to save changes.
  • Then copy or modify your file which was earlier giving error and then again enable UAC via changing the value of Enable ULA to 1. This should Fix A Required Privilege Is Not Held By The Client Error if not then just try the next method.

Access the Root Drive | Privilege is not Held

  • You have to create a ‘Restore Point’ before initiating this procedure within the system.
  • Choose ‘File Explorer’

  • Select “Properties” from the list of options displayed on the screen.
  • You can also adjust to the ‘Sharing Tab’ and click on the ‘Advanced’ which will displaying at the bottom line of the screen.
