PlayStation 4 can be killed with a message

PlayStation users worldwide complain about failed consoles – the usual message is to blame. Users of the Western Reddit forum massively complain about the disabled PlayStation 4 consoles. As it turned out, a popular game console can be turned into a “brick” with a simple message. Recall, a year ago, a similar problem was already encountered in Apple smartphones.

The mechanism of the error is as simple as possible – when you read a special message in a PlayStation chat, the prefix stops working. The only way out, users say, is a hard reset, which destroys all data.

If an unfamiliar user has written to you, but you have not yet opened a dialogue, you should use PlayStation chat via the free mobile application on Android or iOS and delete its messages. In case your console has already been affected by intruders, launch it in safe mode and perform a Factory Reset following the instructions below.

Attention, this operation will destroy all data on the console hard disk:

  • Turn off the PlayStation 4 using the power button on the front panel;
  • After shutting down, press and hold the power button again;
  • Hold it until two beeps sound;
  • Connect the Dualshock 4 controller via USB cable and press the PS button on the controller;
  • Select “Reconstruct Database”

How not to fall for the trick? To do this, you should take care in advance about the circle of people who can send you messages – we strongly advise you to limit it to your friends.

In the near future, Sony will introduce a software update, closing the vulnerability. Until then, users of the console should be careful to communicate with strangers.
