London is a city whose activity does not subside either at night or in the daytime. This is what we managed to capture in the new 7.3-gigapixel 155-degree panorama. It covers a gap of 24 hours, which allows you to properly consider London at any time of the day. Panorama created as a result of the cooperation of the British store Lenstore, the real estate company Canary Wharf Group and the well-known manufacturer Nikon. It is worth noting that the creation of such a panorama is a very effective advertising move.
This experiment can be called the first gigapixel time-lapse video. However, this does not mean that the technology has reached a sufficient level of development to create a full-value video with this resolution. The panorama of the city was removed in February this year from the roof of one of the highest skyscrapers in the UK – 1 Canada Square. To create it, we used the Nikon D850 with the AF-S Nikkor 300mm f/2.8 lenses, as well as special equipment borrowed from the studios.
