How to Fix Mail Keeps Closing in Windows 10

Make sure Windows is up to date

  • Tap on Windows Key + I and then choose Update & Security.
  • Then, again tap on Check for updates and make sure in order to install any pending updates.
  • Now after the updates are installed reboot your PC and see if you’re able to Fix the Mail and Calendar app crashes on opening in Windows 10 as well.

Re-install Mail and Calendar App

  • Tap on Windows Key + Q to bring up the search then type PowerShell and right-tap on PowerShell and then choose Run as Administrator.
  • Now you have to type the following command into PowerShell and hit Enter:

get-appxpackage *microsoft.windowscommunicationsapps* | remove-appxpackage

Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
  • Then just install Mail and Calendar from Windows Store.
  • Now reboot your PC in order to save changes.

Run Windows Store Troubleshooter

  • Head to this link and download Windows Store Apps Troubleshooter.
  • Then double-click the download file in order to run the Troubleshooter.
  • Make sure to tap on Advanced and then checkmark “Apply repair automatically.
  • Also, let the Troubleshooter run and then Fix Windows Store Not Working.
  • You have to tap on type “troubleshooting” in the Windows Search bar and then tap on Troubleshooting.
  • Then from the left window pane and choose View all.
  • Then from the Troubleshoot computer problems list just choose Windows Store Apps.
  • Now follow on-screen instructions and let the Windows Update Troubleshoot run.
  • Just restart your PC and again try to open Windows Store.

Reset Mail and Calendar

  • Tap on Windows Key + I in order to open Settings then click on Apps.
  • Now from the left-hand menu make sure to choose Apps & features.
  • Then under Apps & feature type Mail in the search box that actually says “Search this list.

Mail Keeps Closing

  • Tap on the search result that says Mail and Calendar and then choose Advanced options.
  • On the next window make sure in order to click on Reset.
  • Just reboot your PC to save changes and see if you guys are able to Fix Mail and Calendar app crashes on the opening issues as well.

Re-Register Windows Store

  • In the Windows search, you have to type Powershell then right-click on Windows PowerShell and then choose Run as administrator.
  • Then type the following in the Powershell and hit enter:
Get-AppXPackage | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
  • Now let the above process finish and then restart your PC.

Run SFC /Scannow | Mail Keeps Closing

  • Head to the Start button on your desktop and then type Command Prompt in the search field. Right-tap on the result and select Run as administrator in order to open Command Prompt in admin mode.
  • In the Command Prompt window, you have to type the below command and hit Enter:
sfc /scannow
  • The scanning process actually takes time, so have patience till it’s complete. It scans any broken files and also repairs them. When the scanning is complete, restart your PC and then your Mail app should be working. If it doesn’t actually follow the 2nd method.

Disable the Windows Firewall | Mail Keeps Closing

  • Tap on the Windows key + R in order to open the Run command. Now, you have to type control firewall.cpl in the search field. Tap on OK.
  • In the Control Panel window, just tap on Turn Windows Defender  Firewall on or off on the left side as well.
  • In the next window, head to the Private network settings section and then choose the radio button next to Turn off Windows Defender Firewall.
  • Now, head to the Public network settings section and choose the radio button next to Turn off Windows Defender Firewall.
  • Tap on OK in order to save the changes and exit.

Your mail app should be working now as well. If the problem persists, then try the 4th method.
