Representatives of Intel spoke at Computex 2018 and demonstrated a prototype of a 28-core processor with a clock frequency of 5 GHz without overclocking. The American company has assured skeptics that these are not just plans for a far future – the corporation intends to start selling a new generation processor by the end of 2018.
Demonstrating the capabilities of the upcoming processor, Intel drove its prototype in the benchmark Cinebench. The chipset scored 7 334 points – this result is an absolute record among uniprocessor systems. Unfortunately, representatives of the company did not disclose any details about the upcoming novelties. We can only assume that it will be released as a model of the Core i9 series.
In addition, Intel confirmed that the developed six-core processor Core i7-8086K will be the first chipset from the company with a clock speed of 5 GHz. It is obvious that it will be presented in 2018. Unfortunately, details about it are also unknown, like the price.
Perhaps the new processors with a clock speed of 5 GHz will debut immediately in devices from OEMs. It is expected that in the autumn of this year Apple will update the line of branded Mac computers – perhaps, the top version of iMac or MacBook will get Core i7-8086K.
