This article will teach you how to change the public-private network properties in Windows 10.
Using the settings (Fall 2017 and newer updates)
- Open the Settings application. Click the Start button and tap the Settings icon.
- Go to the Network & Internet category.
- Go to the network type section. Click on the left side of the screen Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Open your previous connection. Click on the current network name in the centre of the window.
- Change your profile to private. Under the heading “Network profile”, click the “Private” button.

Using the settings (Updates 2017 and older versions)
- Open the Settings application. Click the Start button and tap the Settings icon.
- Go to the Network & Internet category.
- Go to the network type section. Click on the left side of the screen Wi-Fi or Ethernet.
- Open your previous connection. Click on the current network name in the centre of the window.
- Put your computer in a visible state. Press the button “Make this PC discoverable” button. This will change your connection to the private mode.

Use the control panel
- Launch the search feature. Click the Taskbar or Search Bar / Cortana icon.
- Type homegroup and select the result that matches the control panel.
- Click the yellow box “change network location”.
- Select the Yes option from the window to the right.
By right-clicking the WiFi taskbar or the Ethernet icon and clicking the Open Network and Sharing Center, you will see the “Private network ” under the network name.
