It’s ten years old, however, you can still learn something new. Such as how you can change the text color for signs in Minecraft. Signs can also be made out of any type of wood, however, the default color for them is black actually. It’s fine that if your sign is made of Oak, however, if you guys are using Dark Oak,  then it’s hard to read. Here’s how you can actually change the text color for signs. This basically works for both the Java version and the UWP version of the app.

The Section symbol

In order to change the text color for signs, you guys have to declare the color before you start entering the text for the sign. The color is declared via entering the Section symbol § followed via the color code.

On Windows 10, you gusy can enter this symbol via holding down the Alt key and clicking 0167 on the number pad.

How to Get Colored Text in Minecraft – Color Codes

Minecraft basically has different color codes. You can check what each color looks like through visiting DigMinecraft. The codes for the respective colors are as below, have a look;

Now that you guys know what color code to use, you can then start changing the color of the text.

In Minecraft, place a sign and also enter the text editing mode. Just enter the section symbol followed through the color code. Without even adding any extra space, then just enter the text you want to show on the sign.

If the text overflows to another line, then you will have to enter the color code before the second line.

You can also apply bold, underline, and italic styles to text actually. They will each need a code of their own and they can also be use along with color codes.

If you guys want to use both a color code and a style code, reference the example below in order to use them.

§f§lsign text

This will provide you bold white text.

Again, you guys will have to enter this at the start of each and every line on the sign. If the text overflows to a second line and this code isn’t present at the start, then the text color of the second line will be the default black actually.
