Amazon Fire TV Stick is a wonderful device. It also permits you to convert your age-old TV set into a smart TV along with streaming services. Such as Prime, Disney+, Netflix, YouTube, and much more. The streaming stick is also useful for many travelers (not in 2020). It can also be your perfect entertainment companion during the holidays. If your Fire TV Stick is acting up randomly or also giving troubles in general navigation. Then it’s now time to free up space on the device using uninstalling apps. Just read this article to know about How to Delete Apps on Amazon Fire Stick.
Fire TV Stick 4K (Amazon’s most-famous offering) basically comes along with 8GB of storage to be with as well. It may also sound really good enough on paper, however, out of 8GB, the system and default apps already take around 2.5GB of storage. And over time, the installed apps collect data and also cache and then leave you along with few MBs. In order to manage on the device.
How to Delete Apps on Amazon Fire Stick
The 2019 Amazon Firestick has basically 8GB of storage. That sounds a lot, however, if you have had yours for any length of time, then you will know that space is really easy to fill up. However, the apps themselves are not huge, there are so many of them that you will instantly find yourself having installed a couple of dozen just to see what they will actually do. You can add any downloaded movies and TV shows and you will mostly find yourself clearing out storage on the Amazon Firestick as well.
You can also add to that the preinstalled apps that often come with these kinds devices. That you will likely never use and then you have a good case for some Firestick housekeeping as well. Amazon is okay along with keeping bloatware to a minimum, however, there are likely apps on the Firestick you would never use as well. Removing those as well would claw back much-needed storage as well.
Remove apps on the Amazon Firestick
As far as I know, there is only one official way in order to delete all apps at once on the Amazon Firestick. That is a factory reset. As that will also delete any personal details and customizations, that isn’t the best bet actually. I’ll still show you guys how you can do that in a minute. However, first I’ll show you how you can delete apps individually. You will have to remove each and every app separately, however, you can do it from a single screen. It may still take a few minutes but it’s the best we have actually.
- First, log into your Amazon Firestick on your TV.
- Choose Settings from the menu and Applications.
- Then select Manage Installed Applications from the menu.
- Select an app that you want to install from the list on the page.
- Also, choose Uninstall from the list within the app details.
- Now, confirm the uninstall when you are prompted.
- Repeat for each and every app you want to remove.
Some users that I know suggest clearing data and clearing the cache before even deleting to make sure everything is removed. And you claim back maximum storage space as well. You may or may not want to do that right
Delete apps via a file manager
I said earlier that the only official way in order to remove apps was to use a factory reset. The unofficial way is basically to use something such as File Manager, ES File Manager, X-plore File Manager orFile Commander. Each permits you to choose multiple files at once to delete them.
ES File Manager is a really famous file manager and one I use. When you open the app you have an Apps option to highlight all installed apps as well. You can choose multiple apps from here and then send them all to the Recycle Bin or also use the built-in Space Analyzer in order to identify what is actually using up all your free space.
Factory reset in order to delete all apps on an Amazon Firestick
If you want a mass clearout or you are finding all the apps and movies are slowing down your Amazon Firestick. Then a factory reset may also be in order as well. The more stuff you guys load onto it, the slower it gets so a little housekeeping can actually be a useful exercise in order to breathe new life into your Amazon Firestick.
Be aware though that a reset will clear all of your accounts, logins, and any customizations you guys have made. So if you added your VPN, your Netflix, and Hulu accounts, then you will have to add them again. There is actually no better way in order to revitalize your Amazon Firestick though.
- Select Settings from your Amazon Firestick menu.
- Choose My Fire TV and Reset to Factory Defaults.
- Confirm through selecting Reset.
When confirmed, the Firestick will then become unresponsive for a little while as it clears all data and restores itself to factory settings. Relying on your network and how much you had loaded onto it, then this can take from five to fifteen minutes as well. Don’t turn it off, don’t delete the network, and don’t interrupt the process otherwise you could brick your stick actually.
When you do that, you will then see the original Amazon sign-in page you first saw when you unboxed your Firestick for the first time. Now you guys will need to log in via your Amazon account and then set each and everything up again. You should see the Firestick working much faster as a result though!
