Create Color Pop in Picture: Google offers cool features inside its Photos app. These features allow users to pop out the subject from the background. Simply by applying a white and black filter in the background while leaving the subject to its original colors. However, Google’s algorithm takes care of breaking down what the main subject from the background but there are some limitations to the feature.
For instance, Color Pop only applies to pictures on Google Photos. Also, you can’t manually edit pictures after applying the Color Pop effect. However, you can also create images with Color Pop effect using another Google product – Snapseed.
Snapseed is an app that can enhance images with one-touch tools. Not just this but also add filters, edit RAW photos, tune images with sliders and provides them a new look in just a matter of minutes.
One such tool in Snapseed is the ability to create the Color Pop effect on your images. However, Google Photos doesn’t allow you to do it. Here are some examples of the Color Pop effect that we created.
How to create photos with Color Pop effect on Snapseed
The following article helps you add color pop effect to your photos using simple steps on Snapseed. Follow the steps carefully to create color pop in the picture.
Step 1:
At first, download and install the Snapseed app from Google Play.
Step 2:
Also, Open the Snapseed app.
Step 3:
Click anywhere to load a picture.
Step 4:
Choose a picture you want to add the Color Pop effect to.
Step 5 (Optional):
To make the subject pop using colors, we suggest you adding some more saturation to the image before moving on to giving it the Color Pop effect. How to do? To do so, click on the Styles tab. Select either Pop or Accentuate. Also, click on the mark at the bottom right to apply the style.
All done! Now we’re ready to apply the Color Pop effect to your image.
Step 6:
Click on the Tools tab at the bottom center.
Step 7:
Choose the Black & White tile from the menu.
Step 8:
Also, choose the Neutral tone from the available choices. Then click on the mark at the bottom right to apply.
You can also select other tones as well if you think those choices will look quite good with a specific picture.
Step 9:
Also, click on the Edit stack button at the top.
Step 10:
Choose View edits from the pop-up menu.
On the bottom, you’ll view all the filters that you’ve applied to the image.
Step 11:
Click on the Black & White box and then choose the Stacks Brush tool (brush icon in the center).
You’ll now view the version of the photo that was present before adding the black and white filter. Also, make sure that the value of the Black & White tone is set at 100 and that the eye icon is highlighted in blue.
Step 12:
Now carefully brush the area over the subject that you like to add color to. While starting brushing, the area will be highlighted in red.
For best results, you can also zoom in to the image (just by pinching outward using two fingers) to brush the area around the edges of the subject. However, zoom out of the image (simply by pinching inward using two fingers) to check how the brushed looks in the original view.
Make sure if you like to brush an unnecessary region. Then move back to erasing the region by adjusting the opacity white and black effect to zero. Also, brushing over the mistakingly shaded region and modifying the value back to 100.
Furthermore, continue brushing until the whole subject is highlighted.
Step 13:
After brushing the whole subject, click on the Invert icon at the bottom.
While doing so, Snapseed will now invert the mask area. Thus highlighting all the areas in red except for the subject that you brushed over.
Step 14:
Click on the mark at the bottom right to confirm the editing. Now you’ll have an image applied with Color Pop effect.
Step 15:
Move back to the main edit screen by clicking the back arrow at the top left.
Step 16:
To save the edited picture, click on the Export tab at the bottom and choose Save.
Now your image will be saved to your library. However, you can also share/send this picture directly from Snapseed by clicking on Share and then choose an app or contact to share to, using the Share menu.
That’s it! You have successfully created your image using the Color Pop effect.
