Apple Maps Add Stop Detour: Not every way you take is a direct one. Probably you might need to stop and fuel up or like to grab some coffee for the trip. However, Apple Maps not only display your spots nearby. But allows you to add these types of stops to your route without losing your place.

Find a spot to stop and add it
Open the Maps app, pop in the location you’re traveling to, and press Go to begin your journey. Then, follow these steps to add a stop.
Firstly, Swipe up from the bottom of the Maps app during your route.
Select the type of place you would like to visit gas stations, eateries or coffee shops.
When you view the location where you want to stop, click Go. This will also modify your route to that location next.
If you plan not to stop there, click End and then End Route. You can then click to Resume Route to [location] to get back to your original trip.
After you make your detour, resume your earlier route by clicking the blue bar at the top. If you modify your mind about your initial trip fully, you can then click the X in the blue bar instead.
