Just read this article to know all about How to Perform a Half Swipe on Snapchat After the Update. Let’s begin!
Well, unfortunately, this feature — Half Swipe — was badly hurt in a recent update. That is why we’re bringing a workaround for your convenience as well. So, without further ado, let’s now check out how you could Half Swipe in 2021.
It appears some of the users have recently noticed their half swipe feature disappear from their Snapchat app as well. A lot of users tweeted about it being missing on Twitter in late March 2021, that are following some recent updates to the app. But, the half swipe feature changed whenever the app underwent a redesign update in June 2020 along with its “Action Bar,”. According to the brand, that is the navigation menu at the bottom of the screen. It contains the Maps, Chat, Camera, Stories, and Spotlight tabs as well.
But rather than totally disappearing like people thought it did, the feature got a tiny switch. A different spot you’re supposed to drag from in order to peek at a message. Although it’s unclear if the change was recent for these users who tweeted about it, or they could have experienced a late rollout or late updates actually.
What does Half Swiping mean?
Half Swiping in Snapchat is actually the art of reading a Snap without even letting the sender know that you have read it as well. In order to perform a Half Swipe successfully, you guys first have to go to the ‘Chat’ tab and then locate the Snap that you want to preview.
Now, tap and hold the user’s Bitmoji on the left-hand side and then slowly drag your finger toward the right-hand edge. Do this right until the moment the chat goes full screen and then you can open the message completely. Now you must not open the message completely. You only have to preview it.
Doing this successfully, allowed users in order to read Snaps without even alerting the other party.
Is the Half Swipe an official Snapchat feature?
No, the Half Swipe is not a really genius hidden feature of Snapchat. However, a bug that some smart users managed in order to dig up.
To open a message in Snapchat, you guys either have to click on the incoming message notification at the top of your screen. Or just head to the ‘Chat’ tab and open the conversation you want to view. In both cases, the user on the other end of the screen would know that you guys went into their conversation and read the message as well. Whenever that happens, you are basically socially obligated in order to reply to the message.
If done properly, Half Swiping eliminates this conundrum and then permitting you to read the messages without even sending an alert to the sender. In spite of the wild popularity of this “feature,” Snapchat didn’t feel compelled in order to keep it up and running as well. That is why the developers came up along with the June 2021 update with bug fixes.
Because it’s not an official feature, Snapchat only went ahead and made their app more airtight via the latest June update — fixing the bug that enabled Half Swipe as well. Now, whenever you Half Swipe, the user on the other end sees your Bitmoji in the conversation actually, on the bottom-left corner of the screen. So, if you were hoping to lurk around Snapchat, then you are sadly out of luck.
