Raytheon UNCIA continues to operate when immersed in water. When the device is quite light, thin and powerful.

Asia’s largest exhibition in the field of computer games and digital entertainment ChinaJoy attracts not only producers of media content, but also well-known companies that manufacture their hardware innovations. A few days ago we wrote about the fact that Xiaomi brought ChinaJoy on an updated version of your laptop, and suddenly Raytheon Company introduced the world’s first laptop with protection against water and dust to IP68 standard.

Waterproof Laptop

Raytheon UNCIA, which translates as “Snow Leopard“, is a concept laptop. It has the highest on current degree of protection for this class of devices.

The design of the apparatus not only prevents ingress of water and dust inside, but also allows to immerse it into the liquid to a depth of 1 meter for a long period of time. This was demonstrated at the presentation. In this case, the laptop went to work as if nothing had happened.

In addition to its protective functions, it is also worth noting that UNCIA – the lightest laptop among the 13-inch models. It weighs just 1.1 kg and a thickness – 12.7 mm. Producers managed to achieve this thanks to a low-voltage Intel Core platform, the eighth generation. The device is equipped in the top-end line Core i7-8550U processor (4 cores, 8 threads), with acceleration to 4 GHz.

To achieve full waterproof, engineers abandoned the fans, but due to the low processor (15 W) TDP system is stable. Being in water, laptop receives additional cooling that provides high performance for a long time.

In terms of construction and design, UNCIA used new materials and a special protective treatment. By the way, the screen is disclosed at 360 degrees, so the laptop can be used in several modes. Unfortunately, the company did not disclose any details about the launch of the device on the market and its value.
