On January 1, 2019, his responsibilities will be performed by the heads of the PC business department and customer service department. At the same time, Asus announced its intention to change the strategy for the further development of the mobile business. The focus will be on hardware solutions for gamers, the company will focus on the production of smartphones with top-end hardware and a corresponding price tag. This may mean that Asus will close the line of budget devices Zenfone. But so far this is only a guess, the company has not given official statements about this.

According to company chairman Johnny Shih, the mobile market is a “bloody battlefield,” and you need to be well prepared before you enter it. First, Asus needs to stabilize its financial condition, cover losses from inventory, forecast depreciation of advance payments and costs from the upcoming reorganization of a mobile business. Greater competition is one of the main reasons for the change of strategy.
