Apple Ceo Tax Overhauls: Reuters conduct an interview with Tim Cook, Apple CEO Tim Cook recommend that Apple was ready to accept the result of global tax reforms. He also said that Europe’s current data privacy laws are a step in the right direction but don’t go far enough.

Cook spoke to Reuters about the need to reform taxes on privacy issues and a global basis. Where Apple has tried to take a leadership role in Silicon Valley. As it is leading to EU regulators to demand €13 billion in back taxes and punishment back in 2016 a sum Apple is still yet to pay.

While Apple’s retails are winding through European courts. Tim Cook is taking a mollifying attitude towards tax reform. Though Cook said the company should not be on the hook for the €13 billion. Also, saying the “law should not be retrofitted” to punish Apple’s past tax-avoidance strategies.

Said, Cook:

Logically, I think everybody knows it needs to be fixed up. Certainly, I would be the last person to say that the current system or the past system was the perfect system. Hopefully, I’m optimistic that [the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)] will find something.

The 2018 European General Data Protection Regulation doesn’t go far enough to secure consumers, Cook said.

We were one of the first to initial GDPR. Also, we know overall it is extremely good, not only for Europe. We think it’s quite obvious but not sufficient. You have to go further and that further is needed to get privacy back to where it should be.

Cook was in Ireland. He was ready to accept an award recognizing Apple’s investment in the country. Because its the place where he did business since 1980.
