A Hole Instead of a Cutout. Huawei Found a Replacement Monobrovi

Written by Hassan Abbas

Need more space for the screen – decided in Huawei and came up with a way to reduce the space on the front of the smartphone.

According to the Korean resource ETNews, Huawei can release a smartphone with a hole at the top of the display. This solution should replace “monobrov” – the area where the sensors are placed, the front camera and the grating of the conversational speaker.

The eye-hole instead of the cut-out is probably the only possible way to further increase the usable area of the screen. Variants with traveling camera modules, which offered Vivo and Oppo, still can not be called mass.

Schematic sketches provided by ETNews, demonstrate that in this hole there will be a camera, and the speaker and sensors are located on top of a very thin frame. Such a solution has already been implemented by Essential in its smartphone, but there is a cutout for the camera instead of a hole. In any case, this design looks less catchy than monobrow.

Which Huawei devices can receive a new design chip is not reported. Mentioned only the likely release date – the fourth quarter of 2018. It is expected that at this time will be presented a new generation of smartphones Mate.

Whatever it was, this suggests that manufacturers do not consider the cut-out on the screen as the only correct solution to the current design of mobile devices and are looking for an alternative to it.
